YPO, the Yorkshire based public sector procurement organisation, is continuing to break new ground by launching its new customer loyalty scheme. In this tough economic climate YPO wanted to reward schools and local authorities for their loyalty and continual purchase of everyday essentials. In its first year the loyalty scheme is set to pay out £1.7 million to 15,000 customers across the UK during the month of September.

Established in 1974, YPO has become the UK’s largest public sector buying organisation procuring products and services for education establishments, local government, emergency services and a wide range of public sector establishments. Sticking to its core objective, YPO has helped to protect front line services by providing efficiency savings through its bulk buying power and centralised contract services initiatives.

Improving efficiencies and cutting costs is high on YPO’s agenda and the Loyalty Scheme is another example of this. The new Managing Director of YPO Simon Hill, who has previously worked at Yorkshire Forward, emphasises this point. As he says, “We are continually looking for ways to deliver savings to the public sector by driving down costs and improving efficiency. This year we are going that extra mile and returning profits back to the public purse through our Share of Profit Loyalty Scheme. Educational establishments have received rewards of up to £1400, depending on their 2010 spend. A primary or secondary school therefore could have their annual purchase of pens, pencils, paper and books paid for by their reward.”

Over the last 35 years YPO has expanded the core of its business from, educational supplies to incorporate everything a learning environment and local authority would require apart from the building, staff and pupils.

The brand new loyalty scheme has ensured that profits are distributed proportionately and in line with what the customer has spent, ensuring fairness for all. But any public sector organisations that have missed out on the rewards this year still have time to sign up for next year, a point Simon emphasises, “The loyalty reward scheme is set to continue into 2012, and we urge our customers to join up to the scheme to ensure they don’t miss out. Registration is easy and can be completed online at ypo.co.uk.”

With over 50,000 products, food supplies and extensive contract frameworks YPO can cover all public sector purchasing needs. All public sector organisations are invited to purchase from YPO, so please visit the YPO website or request a catalogue to see how YPO can help you.
