First game up today is Uruguay vs South Korea. Uruguay topped a Group including South Africa, Mexico and France, scoring 7 points and doing it without conceding a goal – the first time they have gone three World Cup games without conceding. South Korea finished second in Group B behind Argentina, and their style of play (high energy, closing down players, attacking and defending in numbers) could surprise Uruguay. As we have already seen at this World Cup, all the teams in the last 16 are capable of both providing, and being the victim of upsets.

Head-to-head

- South Korea have never beaten Uruguay in five previous meetings. Uruguay have won four and there has been one draw.

- Their only previous World Cup meeting came in 1990 in the group stages, when Uruguay won 1-0. Uruguay

- Uruguay have now kept three clean sheets in a row, a World Cup first for them.

- They are unbeaten in their last five World Cup games, including draws in their last two group games in 2002. - The last time Uruguay reached the last 16 at the World Cup was in 1990, also under coach Tabarez.

- Uruguay have failed to score in their two previous last 16 matches - they lost 1-0 to Argentina in 1986 and were beaten 2-0 by Italy in 1990.

South Korea - This is the first time South Korea have progressed beyond the opening stage on foreign soil. They reached the semi-finals as hosts in 2002.

- South Korea are the first Asian team to reach the knockout stage of the World Cup twice. - South Korea have never beaten a South American opponent at the World Cup (three defeats and one draw).

Uruguay to win to nil – 7/4 with Ladbrokes

Extra time to be played – 12/5 with Ladbrokes

Forlan (Uruguay) to score first – 9/2 with 888sport and Paddy Power _______________________________________________________________________

Bore Draw Special - England vs Germany In order to cushion the blow experienced if England fail to produce the goods against the Germans in 90 mins, Paddy Power are offering money-back on 1st/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on this match if it ends 0-0! Paddy Power are also offering this deal in the USA vs Ghana game as well. Click here to visit them and pick up a bunch of free bets too! ________________________________________________________________________

Todays other game is the clash between USA and Ghana. Bob Bradleys team topped the Group ahead of England on goal difference whilst Ghana qualified in second place behind Germany. These teams played each other in the final Group game in the 2006 World Cup, with Ghana winning 2-1, a result that sent USA home.

A lot has changed in four years though, and the emergence of players such as Tim Howard, Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan show that the USA team have improved and progressed both as a team, but also as a collective group of players. With the winners of this game going on to face the winners of todays earlier game in the quarter finals, USA must fancy their chances against the Black Stars of Ghana who have only scored twice in their last three World Cup games – both penalties.

USA to win – 13/8 with Ladbrokes and William Hill

Donovan (USA) to score anytime – 11/4 with Paddy Power

Half time draw/full time USA – 5/1 with Paddy Power and Bet365
