Well after the storm, comes um...more storm, with 4 more games in the 2010 World Cup. I expect that a lot of you (especially you England fans) are emotionally drained after they managed to squeak through against Slovenia 1-0, however they didn’t top the Group as USA managed to grab a last minute goal against Algeria, which means that Englands next game is on Sunday against Germany. But before that there are still a lot of games to go. First up today are the final games in Group F – Slovakia vs Italy and Paraguay vs New Zealand.
Italy have drawn their first two games 1-1, however both teams that they played, Paraguay and New Zealand employed tactics that allowed them to play for the draw. If Slovakia want to progress in the 2010 World Cup then they have to win, and this may well allow the experience of the Italian players to find the gaps that so far have eluded them. Italy should also have Pirlo making his first appearance in the World Cup having recovered from injury.
Italy to win – 4-7 with Paddy Power
Half time draw/Full time Italy – 10/3 with Ladbrokes
Italy 1 – 0 Slovakia – 5/1 with 888sport
Italy 2 – 0 Slovakia – 11/2 with William Hill, Paddy Power and 888sport
The other game in this group is Paraguay vs New Zealand. New Zealand have enjoyed their most successful World Cup ever, and will be feeling no pressure to qualify, even though a win would do this (and even a draw could as well if other results go their way). However New Zealand have never won a World Cup match – could this be about to change? Group F has been one of the lowest scoring groups in this years World Cup with just 2 goals a game, and Paraguays two goals against Slovakia was just the 4th time in 23 games that they had scored more than one goal.
Paraguay 1 – 1 New Zealand – 7/1 with Ladbrokes and Bet365
Paraguay 0 – 1 New Zealand – 16/1 with 888sport and Paddy Power
Santa Cruz (Paraguay) to score at any time – 13/8 with Paddy Power
New Zealand to win - 7/2 with Bet365
This evenings games are the final two games in Group E – Denmark vs Japan and Cameroon vs Holland. Cameroon are already out of the 2010 World Cup having lost both their first two games, and Holland have already qualified with maximum points from their two games, so with a game that literally has nothing to play for, expect some changes for the Dutch team – we may even see Arjun Robben coming on as a sub to get some match time. Holland haven’t conceded a goal so far in this tournament.
Holland to win – 5/6 with Bet365
Holland to win to nil – 29/20 with William Hill
Half time Holland/Full time Holland – 15/8 with Ladbrokes, 888sports and Bet365
Holland 2 – 0 Cameroon – 13/2 with Ladbrokes and 888sports
Our final game on paper looks like it would be one to miss, and do something more exciting – like pair up your socks or descale the kettle, but Japan vs Denmark is shaping up to be a fascinating game. Whoever wins it goes through – its as simple as that. Japan also have the upper had in terms of goal difference, meaning that a draw sees them through as well.
Japan – Denmark draw – 23/10 with Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and Bet365
Japan halftime/Denmark fulltime – 30/1 with William Hill
Bendtner (Denmark) to score at any time – 15/8 with William Hill and Paddy Power
Japan 1 – 1 Denmark - 11 /2 with Ladbrokes and 888sport
