If 2009 was "staycation" year, 2010 looks to be at least as busy for UK holidays.
News from Cottages.co.uk, which has been supplying cottage information for more than 12 years, suggests that business is booming.
"It's an easy economy to make when belt-tightening is required" says founder Jon Cockerill. "No flights with extra charges, no airport parking, and your own kitchen for saving money on meals".
Cockerill highlights log cabin holidays as being especially popular. "Fabulous locations are being complemented by investment in excellent facilities. A hot tub on the terrace, plus wood-burner and flat-screen tv in the designer interior, means customers want for nothing. And most log cabins can be booked online".
New developments in the log cabin market include the Forstry Commission's new Forest of Dean site, where kids can have their own treehouse adjacent to the family lodge. The site opens in September 2010, and is taking bookings now.
