Toy Kitchens Fun and Educational

Toy kitchens have remained a consistently popular choice of gift for children around the world for some time now. Now, in today’s modern world of video games and TV we must pose the question as to why this prolonged success and popularity of the toy kitchen has continued.

Primarily this can be attributed to the dual appeal which they offer to both adults and children. To children they offer simplistic interactive fun and role playing, where as adults also release the educational propensity that is offered through the purchase of a toy kitchen.

Integrating fun with learning is an extremely difficult task, however, the toy kitchen manages this almost seamlessly as it comes in under the radar and a child will no be aware of learning whilst they are immersed in play. This learning takes place through such actions as the following of recipes which requires structured thinking and planning, following instructions but in a fun and enjoyable manner. At an early age this is an excellent way to promote cognitive development. Many of the latest toy kitchens available on today’s market also have features which associate certain foods with their correct cooking appliances and will give verbal guidance and encouragement during a play session!

Role playing is also central to this type of play and when children take on the role of a chef working with others to complete a recipe they are learning to work as part of a team and see things from the points of view of others. All this helps in a subtle but powerful manner to build a firm basis for the social skills which will allow them to function effectively in social situations whilst growing up and during their adult lives.

So the next time you have a birthday or Christmas gift to buy for either your own or a friend’s child then why not consider a toy kitchen to make a refreshing and welcome change.
