James White of TeamAfterDark is “Unstoppable”
The BMCRC(Bemsee) MRO Thunderbikes Championship race was continued at the world famous Silverstone circuit on the weekend of June 18/19th 2011.
This promised to be an exciting time for the Team as James had consistently grown in confidence and the Team had used their expertise to “tune in” the Ducati 749 to match James’ riding style. Luigi Moto, one of their main sponsors, was also on hand to add the finesse to the set-up.
This was the 5th meeting of the 2011 season and steady progress had been made in the rankings overall – reaching 2nd place before this meeting. Only 14 points behind the leading rider!
So the scene was set for a really exciting weekend of racing – and that is exactly how it turned out!
Qualifying races took place on Friday with the weather being very changeable – rain followed by some dry spells which, on a circuit that dries out very quickly, made the tyre choice before the racing even more critical. After feeling his way on the circuit, James White of TeamAfterDark qualified in 2nd place.
Saturday saw the racing begin in earnest! Conditions had settled more and with a dry track, James stormed home in the first race to win by a massive 5 second margin! Everything was set fair to scoop the pool!
Close to the start of race 2, the rain clouds were gathering – the Team had to hold their nerve and make some important choices. After much deliberation, they sent James out on dry tyres – perfect at the start. Then the heavens opened and James had to hold on tight and make the best of the situation. Crossing the line in a creditable 5th, the Team took some consolation from the fact that his main rivals in the Championship had also gone for dry tyres and finished behind him.
After the wet conditions yesterday, James White got back in the groove with a vengeance in the first race of Day 2 at Silverstone.
Crossing the line first ahead of 2nd place by 8.5 seconds!!!! A remarkable time that set everyone reaching for the record books – yes it is a new lap record!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Team were on a high! Great anticipation for the final race of the meeting.
What a way to end the weekend – James White roared his way to the top of the Championship by winning the 2nd race of the day by a massive 10seconds!
This now leaves James clear by 23 points in the overall Championship table.
With another 3 meetings of the season left ( 2 at Snetterton and 1 at Brands Hatch), spirits are high in the camp – with some justification! A highly talented 17 year old rider backed by a skilled support Team demonstrating a commitment and determination to succeed and win in a very competitive sport.
Sponsorship deals are available. If you are interested in getting in early for this tremendous prospect then contact Paul Coltman Sports Management or, Team Manager, Tim White for informal discussions as soon as possible.
