Following the first ever month of public voting, theshoppingforecast.com have revealed the top fashions for winter 2010-2011 as voted for by the public in September. The new democratic website which allows the public to have a say on what they would like to see in the shops for the season ahead now has its first months results with the most popular items in each of 6 categories including tops, coats and jackets, dresses and skirts, trousers and jeans, shoes and boots and accessories.


The picks were chosen by the Style Council, a team of fashion enthusiasts and voted on by the members of the public from all over the world. They include a fringed cardigan by Marc and Camille which was also the overall winner receiving the highest average ratings in September. There was also a classic black style sheath dress by Banana Republic, a intricate pink beaded necklace by Forever 21, skinny cargo pants by Current Elliot, ankle boots by Free People and a chunky oversized sweater by Rag and Bone. Voters will continue to vote on items for winter 2010-2011 through out October with the opportunity to win their favourite item of clothing from the website and have their say on what they should be in the shops.



Site Founder Matt Murfin commented ‘It is really interesting to see the results of the first month’s votes. Whilst there were plenty of pieces to choose from, some pieces clearly stood out as the public favourites. They included some classic and very wearable styles as well as some more whimsical and high fashion items’

Theshoppingforecast.com was launched in September 2010 by Matthew Murfin with the aim of providing detailed quantitative data for fashion retail buyers as a solution to the problem of predicting trends for the season ahead. The site will provide data on style and colour preferences for women’s clothing by a wide range of parameters including age, geographic location, profession, income and other metrics. The site will not share any data on individuals with third parties.


The site aims to cut down on fashion retail waste which is both costly to retailers and the environment by providing data which will allow more accurate buying decisions to be made.


Theshoppingforecast.com will also provide a fun and interactive social network and clothes competition where users can share and discuss there favourite items as well as discovering what others think of what will be a hit, or not, in next season's fashions.
