A traditional competition that was popular in the 1980s, spot the ball is a skill based game where players have to guess the position of a ball on a picture/photo where the ball has been removed.

The game is based on a photo usually of a football match where the ball has been removed using photo editing software (see below example). It is then the participators job to guess where they believe the ball to be located in the picture, by using the players position, direction they are looking in and sometimes where there eyes are directed towards.

The winner of the competition is then picked by taking the closest guess to that of the 'correct answer' as chosen by an expert this is because you cannot gamble on an event that has already happened.

The great thing about these type of competitions is that everyone believes that they have a good idea of the ball location and therefore as the game is based on skill the chance of winning is down to luck more often than not rather than judgement.

Recently spot the ball competitions have become more popular with some online sites now offering them as a form of entry to a competiton.  The internet with the use of modern technology has made the concept much more easier to manage rather than the old traditional paper based option.

One such company is Best of the Best who some may be familiar with from the displays that they have at many of the UK's airports offering the chance to win a supercar. This same company offer the competitions over the internet and have a monthly competition in which a lucky person can win a supercar of their choice.

For more information on this type of competition or to take part visit Best of the Best, you never know you could be the winner of a supercar of your choice.
