The Pringle of Scotland Autumn / Winter 2010 menswear collection makes it debut on the Milan runway – another important step in reaffirming pringle of scotland’s positioning as a global luxury brand. The strong emphasis on masculinity references pringle’s scottish roots - common themes, such as twinsets, argyles and kilt buckles are reinterepeted in a contemporary way.
Two colour palettes pervade - the first takes its base from a cool palette of black with charcoal and oxford grey set off against crisp accents of white and soft loden green. a second colour scheme has a warm core of classic camel with burnt golds, worked back against earthy moss green.
It is knitwear that forms the key message of the collection – as standalone styles, layering pieces and luxurious components such as soft linings and trims for jackets and outerwear. Tailoring creates a fresh take on the knitwear as outerwear - the iconic argyle is reworked into several modern guises : a nylon shell quilted in a signature diamond pattern and, in another, injection moulded with cables to create an embossed 3D effect.
Clare Waight Keller ( Creative Director ) commented : “The men’s A/W 2010 collection is inspired by the rugged, very masculine scottish highlander. The season marks a return to a really strong sense of a man, in layers and textures, with the harshness of the scottish landscape that contrasts with beautiful details.”
