“Package holiday” is a term many people use when going on holiday overseas, but what actually makes up a package holiday? There are various parts to the package, and these are:

When you book your package holiday, it’s not just the accommodation you’re paying for, the holiday company you travel with will also provide the flights, in many cases this can be more expensive than the holiday accommodation. When flying to a short haul destination (this is normally within about 5 hours of flight time), the flight is likely to be charted. This means your holiday company either owns, or has rented your plane, to get you and your fellow holidaymakers to your chosen destination.

The next piece of the package holiday jigsaw is the transfer. The transfer will get you from the airport to your accommodation. Your holiday company is will provide either a taxi or a coach to make sure you get your accommodation – and, at the end of your holiday, back to airport again.

The holiday company with provide a representative (commonly called a “rep”). You may never need the rep, but it’s handy to know there is someone you turn to if you have any problems.

Last of all, you get that accommodation which you have carefully chosen. You get piece of mind when booking a package holiday that all the separate pieces are put together for you, so you can get on with enjoying your well earned holiday.

If you decide to book your flights, accommodation and transfers separately, make sure you include everything in your price. You may find cost of the accommodation is cheaper, but that’s no good if you can’t get flights you need to take advantage of the accommodation.

Package holiday seem to have gone out of fashion in recent times. Although, if you want piece of mind that everything will go smoothly, they are still the best way to holiday abroad; especially if you have young children with you – image being stuck at an airport in the middle of the night because there are no taxis around!
