Google have today announced what many of have suspected this year - travel related searches in January 2010 have significantly increased in January 2010, compared to January 2009.

The online travel magazine, travolution.co.uk, has reported the increase searches in January 2010, compared to the same month in 2009, has shot up by 21%.

It has also reported that travel related searches for the whole of 2009 has grown by 9%, compared to the previous year.

Much of the increase in search traffic has come from "branded" searched - that is people searching for specific travel companies, rather than a generic "package holidays in Spain" type of search.

Growth of searches for the luxury end of the travel sector has also been growing, and has now caught up with more budget travel terms. The beginning of 2009 showed more budget travel queries, which is due to the major economic downturn around that time.

All this goes to prove that the internet is the place to be when looking for your holiday. All major holiday providers have a website now.
