Josoblu.co.uk picked up the coveted award, coming ahead of household names like Bosch, B&Q, Dulux and Warner Leisure. It was also named best stand in the Ideal Woman category.
This is the first high profile show for the company who launched in November last year. It specialises in baby change bags and accessories, retro totes and handy shoppers and a vintage floral collection.
It was set up by Joelle Seksum and her husband Benedict after Joelle became so tired of looking for the perfect change bag for her two daughters that she designed her on.
Encouraged by the enthusiasm of other mothers for her product Joelle started designing more and more bags and other accessories – eventually coming up with more than 300 different products
The inspiration for their new business came during a family holiday last summer.
Joelle said: “Travelling with two young children certainly wasn’t easy – I was constantly battling with an inadequate change bag and limited space in which to change my youngest daughter Sophie.
“As a mum, I know what mums need from a change bag. They must be practical, spacious and sturdy. They also need to look good - just because we’re parents doesn’t mean we want to carry dull bags.
“Kids love all things bright and cheerful, so for me it’s really important to have a bag that reflects just that – colourful, happy and one that brings a smile to your face every time you pick it up.”
“We arrived back in the UK exhausted but it was all systems go. It was a challenge to find the right premises for the business, Benedict gave up his job at Sky to work with me and help grow the business and we began to design the website."
The Ideal Home Show is the first major show for the company who will also be exhibiting at Spirit of Summer and The Baby Show.
Joelle said: “We’re delighted and really surprised to be named Ideal Stand of the Year. We worked hard to ensure our stand looks good, is eye-catching and shows off our designs really well. The idea of being in competition with big brands didn’t even cross our minds, so we’re really pleased to receive this honour.
“Our product ranges, Momymoo, Re-Uz, ringArose and Bebemoo are certainly bright and cheerful and are proving popular with visitors to the show.
“As a start-up, events like this and being recognised in this way are really important to us. For me setting up the business with Benedict is the best thing I could have done and being named Ideal Stand of the Year 2011 and receiving great feedback from show visitors is the icing on the cake.”
