Miss Congo Beauty Pageant UK was formed by Disk and Jockey Entertainment, a group run by four young Congolese entrepreneurs going by the names Francois Tshimpuki, Nadege Tshiobi, Reagan Panzu and Laku Pululu with one young Ethiopian entrepreneur by the name of Ebenezer Teferi all from East London and Essex. Inspired by the beauty of Congolese women and touched by the current issue of sexual violence perpetuate against females of all ages in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Francois Tshimpuki the founder of the group and his team set out to start what we know as the Miss Congo Beauty Pageant, giving young Congolese women from all over the UK a chance to not only grace us with their beauty and talent but to also represent the Congolese community as a whole, but more importantly raise issues relevant to the creation of a healthy society and for the improvement of young girls and women's lives. The winner of Miss Congo Beauty Pageant will not only get the chance to go back to Congo but will go back as a UK ambassador of the Congolese community to promote awareness of these issues and help raise funds to help tackle these issues during her reign. This is the second year of the pageant running and Francois’ aim is for it to be bigger, better and get more recognition as a major beauty pageant event. This year’s applicants have doubled with many hopefuls from all over the United Kingdom wanting to take part in this great cultural experience.
This amazing cultural event will be held on Friday 1st of July 2011 at the luxurious IF Bar (Ilford) the night will be filled with music from all countries, dance, fashion and of course the 12 chosen pageant contestants who will be working the run way competing to see who takes home the title of Miss Congo Beauty Pageant UK. With celebrations of Congo’s 51 years of independence being held on the same day at the same venue the excitement and joy will be overwhelming making it the perfect time for these young ladies to showcase their beauty. As the celebrations manifest and the night prevails and everyone has enjoyed themselves at the end of the night the message Francois an his team want people to take home is that we as a community can all do something to help by turning up and supporting the cause, change can be made. The Miss Congo Beauty Pageant will be the perfect platform to bring joy, culture and awareness, so Friday the 1st of July 2011 is truly not a night to miss.
