Garmin (the GPS specialist) and Asus (a PC Specialist) have teamed up to offer the nuvifone A50 that claims to include ‘more location technology than any other smartphone’. Given their respective expertise, then that seems like a pro9mise that they will keep.

With an array of location based applications including A-GPS turn-by-turn navigation with lane assist and junction view as well as a digital compass. On foot the A50 features City Xplorer maps to ensure you are always heading in the right direction and geo-tagging to locate where your photos were taken.

The A50 runs on the Android operating system and includes the full Google package of Google search, maps, Gmail and talk as well as YouTube for a great internet experience which is enhanced by the fast HSDPA and Wi-Fi connection.

There is a decent 3.15 megapixel camera with autofocus and a handy photo editor as well as a media player to keep you entertained wherever you are on your travels.

The quad-band phone looks the part with a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen and simple 4-way navigation key placed on the sleek silver exterior and with 4GB of internal memory, which can be expanded to 32GB via a microSD card. The A50 is a superb all-round phone.

If Sat-Nav is your reason for buying a phone, then this seems like the only choice this year.
