Costumes

Nowadays most people enjoy a chance to dress up for a party. There are lots of different costumes around and much will depend on whether you are going to a fancy dress party, a Halloween party or a themed party. One favourite themed party is to run a masked ball where all the guests and hosts must dress in eighteenth century Georgian style and wear a mask. Depending on how adventurous you are with a needle and thread you can either make your own costume or hire one from a theatrical agency or a dedicated party hire firm.

Halloween parties are great because there is such a wide range of costumes around that you really can have some fun choosing what you will wear. Whether you fancy yourself as a witch, a skeleton or a zombie, you are bound to have plenty of laughs dressing for your costume party.

Some people like to throw a fancy dress party at New Year and you can have plenty of fun with this as there are so many different costumes to choose from. People can choose glamorous costumes for a fancy dress party or you can go for something totally different and go as Miss Piggy or Kermit the frog. Just as everyone loved to dress up as a child, that urge to look like someone or something other than what we are does not disappear in adulthood.

Over the last thirty years there has been a trend towards 'come as you were' parties where people who were teenagers in the seventies or eighties could hark back to what they were wearing then. While modern fashions always have accents of a particular era, they don’t get it in quite the same way as people who dress in a style they used to favour, for a party.
