Hoodies used to be associated with hoodlums and gangs of unruly youths that would hang outside off-licences and on street corners. However you could say that hoodies have turned a corner themselves and the hoody has now re-launched itself as a trendy and even smart piece of children’s clothing.

Hooded tops are great for this changeable season where it’s chilly in the morning but bright sunshine by the afternoon. They are easy to wear and versatile, coming in many different designs from casual to smart.

Hoodies for Babies

Hooded tops have never looked so adorable than when they are fitted snugly around a chubby little face. Just make sure it has the following features:

·         A zipped hoody is essential as no-one wants to try and drag a hooded top over a babies’ head when they are fast asleep. Likewise the hood is easy to gently drape over their heads when the temperature drops rather than having to fiddle about putting a hat on.

·         Snugability factor – soft fleeces and organic cotton are best for baby soft skins.

Yes, practical and gorgeously cute the hoody gets the thumbs up for babywear!

Smart Designer Hoodies

You never would have thought it would you? But now most of the high street designers have taken the hooded top and given it a very effective designer twist. You can get some very fashionable and smart hoodies from the likes of Boden, Ted Baker, Bench and Jasper Conran. Their range of hoodies include:

·         Woollen hooded dresses for the smart girl about town.

·         Casual jersey buttoned hoodies that are effortlessly trendy.

Teenage Hoodies

It was teenagers who started the hoody trend and so we turn to them for the final hooded tips:

·         Every teenager loves a good logo and so if buying for a teenager make sure that their hooded top has the logo printed on and the bigger the better! High Street chains such as Next and Gap seem to be particularly good at promoting themselves in this way, but other companies such as the aforementioned Bench have also got in on the act.

·         Front pouch pockets are essential for that slouching pose that comes with the teenage territory.

So if you are looking for children’s clothing this autumn, don’t dismiss children’s hooded tops. Follow our tips to buy the most stylish hoody for your child.
