According to the Trading Standards there have been such a case about the misleading and dubious mobile phone contracts in Somerset last year. About 150 or more people have been there complaining about the same. As per the statements of the people they were bound to mobile phone contracts through unclear terms and conditions without their consent. Besides that, they were also fooled as the concerned contractors who had many grievances against them pretended to represent another company so that customers will be convinced to switch to a different network.

Some customers also complained that just trying to sign up for information changed their service providers without their consent. Paul Clarke who is the group manager of Somerset County Council's Trading Standards said, " Its important that if you choose to sign up for a contract you know exactly what you are committing yourself to... We are encouraging local residents to check the small print and consider all the options before signing on the dotted line."

Anyone wishing to have a new contract mobile phone deals or making changes to the current deal must have written information about the following things before signing up for anything: the breakdown of contract charges which also includes the regular monthly payments, the amount to be paid if someone chooses to cancel the contract early than the stipulated period, the amount of included texts, calls and built in internet access, information about the terms and conditions of payments, with the initialization of the contract check whether the user is provided with an option to withdraw early or not, the length of the contract period and the details of various offers offered by the company besides cash back.
