The 8th of October saw the third anniversary of Tenuous Links in it’s current form. The past three years have saw a steady new members to Tenuous Links and in that time we have generated nearly 1.4 million page impressions and have welcomed over a million unique visitors.
OK those figures aren’t in the same league of the Twitters and Facebooks of the world, in if we’re honest a large proportion of those figures are due to bots, crawlers and the like, however we have seen an increased in traffic year on year, and this years traffic levels exceeded our 2009 totals as early as last month.
Tenuous Links is somewhat of a web cult and we have thus far shied away from releasing a press release, however we have now ironed out most of the creases, added some excellent functionality and now feel ready to announce our multi-faceted social networking portal.
The mission of Tenuous Links is to allow human beings to discover and share the web. To do this we have implemented several facilities that allow our users to tell each other and the wider web community about the great sites that are out there. These facilities include a website directory, that orders it’s contents, using manual rankings against five key factors, a social bookmarking, microblogging (TLitter), blogging (TLogs) and a networking facility, that recognises the fickle nature of online relationships, called tenuous linking.
At the essence of our mission is the belief that the recommendation of places to visit on web should contain a human element and not be at the sole domain of spiders and bots.
If you would like to spread our message then cup of our appreciation will not contain our gratitude. In doing so you will be able to say you where there at the beginning of the next web phenomenon (Well maybe).
More information on the various functions can be found in the latest TLog entry: What Tenuous Links is. We are also happy to field questions you might like to send to us by clicking here.
