UK-wide driver training company AcciDON'T have been named in a survey of leading 100 small businesses as one of the fastest
growing companies in the country.
The firm which started in Helensburgh, near Glasgow, just over 10 years ago has seen turnover grow by an incredible 91 per cent over the last three years, leading them to finish 17th overall in this year’s SPRINT100 list as compiled by Insider, Scotland’s leading business magazine.
The list consists of solely of companies whose turnover is between £500,000 and £5m which have seen the fastest growth over the past three years and are in profit.
Recent successes in attracting new business and major contracts has also allowed the company to add a further branch in Leicestershire as well as establishing operating centres in Aberdeen, the Defence School of Transport in Leconfield and other Ministry of Defence (MOD) bases around the country.
“I was gobsmacked to see that we’d finished in the top 20, it’s a fantastic achievement,” said Simon Johnston, co-founder and director of AcciDON'T.
“It is a great vindication of the decision myself and my partner Peter Williamson made to leave an established fleet driving school all those years ago and set up on our own. We felt then, and we still do, that we can offer a better service to companies and organisations to help improve driver training and save lives.”
AcciDON’T differs from other driving schools in that it specialises in providing contract driver training to suit a variety of clients, including large private corporations, SMEs, the Ministry of Defence and non-governmental organisations, looking to improve driving skills, increase safety and reduce transport costs.
“A company with say 20 vans will come to us and say we want to reduce our insurance premium, the amount of fuel we use and the amount of times people crash,” said Mr Johnston, whose company also works closely with police forces throughout the country to promote road safety.
“We can help them save money and make sure their health and safety policies are as strong as they can be, whether they work for large international oil and gas companies or local councils.
